WOW – what a wonderful weekend we just had at the Shawnee Oklahoma Dog shows!
The weekend started it’s success with the Brittany Specialty. I went Best In Puppy Sweepstakes with Ranger and he also took Reserve Winner’s Dog. Then Ruby went Winners Bitch earning a 3 point major! Those were Ruby’s first points too!!!

On Saturday the success continued. I put a Reserve Winner’s Bitch on Ruby. In French Bulldogs, Isaac went Winner’s Dog/Best of Opposite Sex/Best of Winners for 2 points. In Doque De Bordeaux – Jessica Riffe handled Nellie to Best of Breed/Winner’s Bitch – for a 4 point major. Bogie went Best of Opposite Sex (shown by his mom Hillary Branscum). I handled Skyler to Reserve Winner’s Bitch. In Siberians I handled our Cosmo to Winner’s dog for 1 point. Then I showed Rummer to Best of Breed. Jessica showed Feather to Best of Opposite Sex. To end the day – Rummer earned a group 2 under Breeder Judge Jan Sigler! YIPPEE!!!

Sunday was just as good, or actually better – Ruby, the Brittany, went Winner’s Bitch/Best of Winner’s for a 4 point major! In Doque De Bordeaux, I showed Skyler to Winner’s Bitch/Best of Opposite Sex for a 4 point major and NEW CHAMPION! Hillary showed Bogie to Best of Breed and Amara to Reserve Winners dog. In Siberians Cosmo again went Winner’s Dog for another point. Jessica showed Feather to Best of Breed while Rummer went Best of Opposite Sex. Then Feather went onto earning a group 2 under Judge Sam Burke JR! ANOTHER YIPPEE!!!!

Let’s see, my American Staffordshire Terrier Toby went Reserve Winner’s Dog both days. Jessica showed her Chinese Crested Ayden to a Reserve Winner’s Dog on Sunday. Lauren Moore showed her lab Tart in Juniors and won her open Intermediate Class on Sunday. My friends in Great Danes won in bitches both days – Brian won with Hailey on Saturay and Zee won with Tiffany on Sunday. Mary, our agility instructor at Canine Sports Academy showed her Border Collie for the first time – going Reserve Winner’s Bitch on Saturday and Winner’s Bitch/Best of Winner’s on Sunday for her first point!

Lori and Nathan Drozd came up with Lila (Cardigan Welsh Corgi). Lori guided Lila to two class wins. I am proud as they were nice classes. Lori’s learning the ropes with showing and is doing great with Lila. They stayed with us so we had a nice relaxing time!

I am very proud to have a winning crew! It makes my job SUPER FUN!

BIG BRAG from the OKC Toy Dog Show

Monday, May 18th, 2009

I am so proud to be writing this post. About 8-9 months ago, a sweet lady named Jessica Riffe showed up out at Canine Sports Academy with a young Chinese Crested dog. She bought him as a pet, wanted to do some obedience and agility with him. Somehow she thought that conformation showing looked like it could be fun. We all thought her little boy was cute and she was able to convince her breeder to change his registration so she could show him.
So, Jessica and Ayden – started coming to conformation class and I worked on teaching her the ropes of conformation showing. You know, sometimes you get people who really want to learn, then you get others that it doesn’t matter what u say, they do their own thing. Jessica soaked up every piece of information we could give her.
Jessica and Ayden hit the show ring this January when Ayden was 6 months old. It went about as we expected – earning a couple class wins – getting their feet wet. Jessica started working with other breeds in conformation and gained valuable experience for competing.
Ayden won his first point in March! He even took a Best of Breed over a Champion last month!
Every weekend Jessica has traveled with the Rainbow gang – she’s turning into a fixture in our group!

This weekend was the Oklahoma City Toy Dog Club Specialty – a show for only toy breeds. We all teased Jessica that she was flying the coop without the group. Couldn’t blame her, a local show for just the toy dogs – yeah she had to attend. I was not suppose to be able to attend on Saturday – that changed at like the last moment – she was having a stressful start to the day – almost being late and missing her ring time. I helped get her and Ayden focused and they went in and went Winners dog/Best of Winners for a 4 point major!!!!!! Then, today she and i went back and and Ayden went Winners Dog/Best of Winners/Best of Opposite Sex for his second major – a 3 pt one!!!! She beat a top 10 Crested going Best of Oppostie Sex.

Ayden is now at 12 points with both of his major wins! I am so proud of Jessica for all she has accomplished. She is quickly earning respect in the dog show community and she has a natural talent for the sport. It is an honor to be part of her success and watching the teaching/training techniques I use prove to be a winning combination in the ring.

Jessica, congratulations on a faboulous weekend – you won’t ever forget it!

Denton, TX Dog Shows

Sunday, May 17th, 2009

Ok Ok Ok, for those of you who do read my blog and know anything about dog shows – Denton was LAST weekend. It has taken me this long to put up results. The show was very tough on my ankle and I was sore for two days. Then I came down the with crud that turned into a sinus infection. I have been exhuasted, in a daze, not able to concentrate enuf to even attempt to write out a blog. I did get some work done on the Canine Sports Academy site and for one of my clients on her site – but I haven’t even worked on my site and LET ME TELL YOU – WE HAVE SOME BRAGS!

WOW – where do I start?? Well, we brought home 2 NEW CHAMPIONS from Denton! Yep, seriously!
Jasmine, the Long Hair Dachshund – who is about 15 months old NOT only went Winners Bitch/Best of Opposite Sex for a 3 pt major at the Dachshund Specialty on Friday – she went Winners Bitch/Best of Opposite Sex on Sunday to FINISH her CHAMPIONSHIP!!! Then Feather, the Siberian was awarded Winners Bitch both days to FINISH her CHAMPIONSHIP!! And, on Sunday Feather also went Best of Breed over 2 specials!!! I need to say thank you very much to my partner and good friend Jessica Riffe who handled Feather for me both days. I was stuck in the Cardigan ring where we had majors.

OK – let’s see, I also went Winners Dog/Best of Winners with Toby, the American Staffordshire Terrier for one point on Sunday! Jessica showed her Chinese Crested, Ayden to Winner’s Dog/Best of Opposite Sex for one point on Saturday and Reserve Winner’s Dog on Sunday!

Finally in the Cardigan Ring – Crystal Worley showed Zander to Winner’s Dog/Best of Winners for a 3 point MAJOR on Sunday – also taking Reserve Winners Dog on Saturday! Congrats to Crystal for all of her hard work with Zander (who we bred). Also, in Cardigans, I got to show Lila, one of our newest babies for the first time in an all breed ring – she won her class both days and on Saturday she was awarded Reserve Winners Bitch (which was a major).

Laur’en Jordan – my Junior Handler Assistant – was able to attend Saturday of the show. She showed in Junior Showmanship with her Pointer, Ziggy and they were awarded 2nd place! She did show her German Shepherd dog, Stormee but did not bring home a ribbon.

We had such a wonderful show, so sorry it took so long to brag! This crud has not been fun. Fortunately I have time to recoup. My next show is Shawnee next week – so by then should be ready to rock and roll!

Frodo’s First Win Photo

Friday, May 1st, 2009

This is Buckaroo’s Lord of the Rainbow “Frodo” 1st point at his 2nd time ever in the show ring! I am showing Frodo in the Bred By Exhibitor class – which is hard when they are such puppies – but I want to earn the special AKC Bred By Exhibitor Medallion! Frodo’s first show was a Grove, Oklahoma and thank you to James Fredrickson for awarding Frodo his first point. Frodo will stay at home until the OKC show and grow up some more!
